Gareth Saxe, who made his Broadway debut last season in Heartbreak House, has joined the cast of the 40th-anniversary revival of Harold Pinter's The Homecoming. The production begins previews at Broadway's Cort Theatre on November 23 and is set to open on December 9 for a 20-week limited engagement, though April 13. Daniel Sullivan is the director.
Saxe will portray Joey, a boxer in training and the youngest son of Max Ian McShane of TV's Deadwood. The cast also includes two-time Tony nominee Raul Esparza Company, The Normal Heart, Tony nominee Eve Best A Moon for the Misbegotten and Michael McKean The Pajama Game, Hairspray.
Saxe's stage credits include Richard III and The Winter's Tale Public Theater, The Wax Playwrights Horizons, iWitness Mark Taper Forum, Sexual Perversity in Chicago American Conservatory Theatre, Pericles Old Globe and The Rivals Huntington.
The design team will include Eugene Lee Wicked, Sweeney Todd, Candide for sets, Kenneth Posner The Coast of Utopia, Glengarry Glen Ross for lighting, Jess Goldstein The Rivals, Henry IV for costumes and John Gromada Rabbit Hole, Enchanted April for sound.
